About Us
The Community Health Worker National Education Collaborative is a project that brings together leaders in the CHW field to develop a consensus around “promising practice” approaches to CHW education: This Collaborative is a national community of practice initiative on college-supported and responsive curricula for Community Health Workers. Core Technical Assistance institutional partners provide expertise and materials to Adapter institutions. This postsecondary innovation supports nontraditional, socio-economically disadvantaged, and ethnically diverse students (includes U.S./Mexico Border Health Promotores, Native American Community Health Representatives®, and Community Health Workers in rural and urban medically underserved neighborhoods). These students in community health work represent a new entry-point in higher education, where the validation of the core competencies for the CHW workforce has become a critical national public health and human service issue.
